Your responsibility does not end with rent payments.

In most cases your responsibilities as a tenant will be documented in your signed tenancy agreement. For details please refer to that.

Please find below some responsibilities that sometimes can be taken for granted.
It is the tenant’s responsibility to

  • Change light bulbs and fuses as necessary.
  • To look after the landlords belongings as if they were your own.
  • Take responsibility for utilities (Water, Electricity & Gas).
  • Maintain upkeep of the property such as unblocking drains (within reason), de-scaling taps & showerheads etc.
  • Ensure security of property and paying for lock changes when keys are lost or stolen.
  • To maintain upkeep of garden and outside spaces.
  • Clean the property on a regular basis.
  • To Report maintenance issues immediately when they occur.

Please remember that your landlord entrusts you with their biggest purchase and it is your responsibility to look after it as best you can.

Chase Devonshire recommends that you take out contents insurance that will cover not only your own belongings but also those of your landlord against accidental damage.

Please contact your property manager on 020 7740 1770 or email us on propertymanagement@chasedevonshire.com should you need to report any maintenance issues in your rental property or require more information on insurance companies we deal with.
